The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full institutional accreditation to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, as well as to 18 programs presented by the institution.
The Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, announced this milestone during the institution’s 32nd matriculation ceremony. He also revealed that NBTE had approved the Polytechnic to introduce eight new programs.
The Rector highlighted that the 100 percent quality assurance success achieved for the 27 programs builds on the remarkable accreditation success of 2022, during which all 30 programs presented to NBTE received full accreditation.
The accreditation exercise was conducted at the Polytechnic by the NBTE from December 18 to 20, 2024.
The Rector emphasized that, with the outcome, no program at the Polytechnic has been denied accreditation or placed on interim status. He attributed this success to the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and stability.
He further explained that, of the 57 programs currently offered by the institution, 19 were introduced during his administration, accounting for 33.3 percent of all programs at the Polytechnic.
Prof. Usman commended the collective efforts of the Principal Officers, Management, Academic Board, and staff members—including cleaners, drivers, and security personnel for their dedication and support throughout the accreditation and resource inspection process.
He also expressed special gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his steadfast support and for fostering an enabling environment that allows the institution to thrive.
The Rector reiterated his commitment to rebranding the Polytechnic into a model institution admired by other polytechnics and educational institutions in Nigeria and beyond.
