FEC approves licenses for 11 new private universities

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved provisional licences for eleven new private universities.

 

This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa after the federal cabinet meeting on Monday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister said the universities had passed through processes set out by the National Universities Commission (NUC

Alausa explained that even though the Federal Executive Council had placed a moratorium on new private universities, the ones being approved had gone far in their registration process.

“The ones that are being approved have gone through the rigorous process and have been in an advanced stage before now,” he explained.

 

The education minister gave the names of the universities as New City University, Ayetoro, Ogun State, University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, Eranova University, Mabushi, Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annex, Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State and Southern Atlantic University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

 

Others are Lens University, Ilemona, Kwara State, Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State, Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City, Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos and Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State.

 

According to Alausa, President Tinubu is committed to expanding the frontiers of educational opportunities and infrastructure.
