The Founder, City of Knowledge Academy (CKA), Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Dr. Mosun Bello-Olusoga, has declared that the only way to get the best out of youths is to combine academic excellence with morals.

At a press briefing to herald the 10th anniversary of the school, Bello-Olusoga said the combination of both informed her decision to establish the school.

“Establishing the academy is not just an accomplishment but fulfillment of a passion and dream.”

She explained that her choice of Ogun State was to ensure a safe and secured place for teaching and learning.

She said: “I want a combination of excellence, character and culture. If you combine education with character and culture, I’m sure that child would excel.”

“If you are comfortable in your own skin wherever you are, you will be proud of your culture. As I said, a good education is the foundation. By imbibing sound culture and integrity, which are our core values, our students will be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with any of their contemporaries anywhere in the world. This is also another way of supporting the government in giving quality top-notch education.”

The Head of School, Ms. Abiola Lamikanra, said the 10-year journey has been a bitter-sweet experience.

She said: “Over the years, we have built a culture of excellence and had fantastic academic results. For three years consecutively, CKA students won the National Microsoft Specialist Competition. One of our students will be going to America next week to represent Nigeria in the World Microsoft finalist competition. We are a school that provides many opportunities for students to showcase their talents.

“We are training our students to be global leaders; they are intentional about leadership skills. Whenever our students go out, we get feedback that they are well behaved. Our guiding principles are confidence, character and culture,” Lamikanra said.

The Vice Principal Administration, Edwin Bankole, said the school recorded 100 per cent performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2021.
